Putting an end to the guesswork of the iTunes movie store launch date, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) has begun offering titles for sale or rent to its UK and Canadian iTunes users, reports BBC. Over 700 films—100 of which will be in hi-def for £1 more—from Fox, Disney (NYSE: DIS), Paramount, Warner, MGM, Sony (NYSE: SNE) International and Lionsgate will be available for download on the same day they are released on DVD. Users can purchase new releases for £10.99 or rent them for £3.49, while older films cost £6.99 to buy and £2.49 to rent. iTunes started offering movies for sale or rent in the U.S. earlier this year.

-- Macworld: Customers have 30 days from the time they rent a film to start watching a movie, and after they start, have 48 hours to finish it—twice as long as U.S. customers have to finish watching a movie. However, if U.S. users pause playback on their computers and return to the movie after the 24-hour window, they are still given the option to resume watching as long as they haven’t tried to watch another movie in that timeframe.
