Belgian Publisher Rossel Buys Rendez-Vous Dating Site

By Robert Andrews - Mon 22 Oct 2007 04:04 AM PST

Belgian publishing group Rossel has bought dating site Rendez-vous for an undisclosed amount. The site was launched a whole 10 years ago by Alexandre Baudoux and Arnaud Huret. The acquisition is Rossel’s strategy to build links across its print and online brands, according to MSN.

The site has 120,000 registered users, 45,000 paying customers and 574,000 unique monthly users with a most recent turnover of 1.7 million euros (£1.19 million), L’Echo said. The site will be brought under the banner of Net Events, in which Rossel has a majority stake and which also operates the Cinenews movie site and Ticketnet online ticketing agency. Rossel publishes the Le Soir newspapers and Victoire magazine amongst others. Rendez-vous operates in French, Dutch and English, and also operates the AfroMeet and Bulle de Romance sub-brands.
