Online Catch Up For Channel 4: Channel 4 has rolled out a free seven-day catch-up service on channel4.com, reports NMA.co.uk. The click-and-play streaming service is in addition to its VOD 4oD service, which also provides catch up and archive programming.

Gurgle Signs Book Deal: Mothercare-backed parents’ social net Gurgle has struck a five-figure deal with Harper Collins to publish three parenting books, each to retail at £12.99, reports the Bookseller. The site, launched in October, claims 40,000 registered members.

Cheapflights Won’t Bid On Rival Trademarks: Online travel site Cheapflights is joining supermarket chain Tesco in its refusal to bid for keywords trademarked by competitors, reports NMA.co.uk. In April, Google (NSDQ: GOOG) decided to lift its UK ban that prevented rivals from bidding on trademarked terms, as they do in the US and Canada.

Virgin Radio Creates Online TV Show: Virgin Radio has partnered with production firm Endemol to produce a weekly online TV series called Punch Drunk TV, available for viewing on the Virgin Radio web site and iTunes Store. Marketing reports that the radio station is trying to create an additional revenue stream and the show will offer multimedia sponsorship opportunities, as well as creative branded content and product placement opportunities. Punch Drunk TV is slated to run for three months, and is the “first of many” shows that Virgin Radio will produce.

ITV (LSE: ITV) Turns To Social Nets For Support: ITV Productions is turning to social networks to support its upcoming musical drama “Britannia High,” the British version of the US Disney (NYSE: DIS) hit, “High School Musical.” Britannia High characters will have profiles on social nets Bebo and Facebook. Brand Republic reports that they are also considering supporting Britannia High as they did with Gossip Girl. ITV struck a deal with Bebo to air an episode of the US import on its site, and commissioned a supporting blog from US gossip blogger Perez Hilton.
