- BBC IPTV plans: The BBC’s TV platforms controller Rahul Chakkara called on IPTV players, at the IPTV World Forum in London, to pull up their socks, arguing current packages “Are like a substitution offering, and not all that exciting”. ”We would have liked to do more but we are restricted by limited bandwidth. With more bandwidth we can use a mix of interactivity, localness, connectivity and personalisation. Some of these ideas will be adapted from the web, others will be completely new. We are working on a range of these ideas that will exploit the power of IP features, and deliver some compelling audience propositions.” Via Rapid-TV.
- ITV (LSE: ITV) F1 Online: ITV has won online rights to broadcast the Formula One season starting this weekend, helping to fill some holes in sports coverage streamed on ITV.com. The deal will also include videos from Friday practice sessions. Via Media Week.
