Broadband Content Bits: Sportingo Donations; Tiscali Sale; ITV Quiz

By Robert Andrews - Tue 01 Apr 2008 01:23 AM PST

- Sportingo: While some continue to wonder whether user-generated content-dependent sites should pay their contributors, sport fan editorial site Sportingo has decided to give away that money to a charitable cause. Ze’ev Rozov’s site, which he brought to London from Israel last year, will give $10 to Unicef’s Sports For Development programme in South Africa every time a user submits an opinion piece this month. Rozov explained the genesis of the idea in a blog post in December and gave me further detail at our recent Exploding Video seminar

- Tiscali: Though, over the weekend, it said it would have a buyer by its AGM in late April, broadband/TV/telco Tiscali today says it has no offers on the table as yet. It has, however, appointed two banks, JP Morgan Chasse & Co. and Banca IMI, to hasten the process. Via Thomson.

- ITV (LSE: ITV) Quiz: ITV has launched a new quiz site powered by Israeli multiplayer pay-for-play trivia service Trivya. ITV Quiz lets players interact with each other as they compete in trivia quizzes on entertainment, politics and sport. It’s a white-label version of Trivya’s platform. Release.
