— BlinxBox Gets Fremantle Content: Digital video start up BlinkBox has struck a content deal with RTL-owned Fremantle Media, that will give BlinkBox users access to its library of shows, which includes Baywatch, Danger Mouse and Count Duckula among others, according to the Guardian. BlinkBox allows users to create “blinks,” a clip from a film tagged with a personal message that can be sent to a mobile or PC.
— Travel Buddy Strikes Distribution Deal with Thomson: Thomson (NYSE: TOC) has signed a five-year content deal with mobile content company Travel Buddy, in which the mobile content company will provide weather alerts, emergency numbers and local events to the tour operator’s customers, reports Travolution. The opt-in text service costs £0.25 ($0.50) to £1 ($2), depending on the content accessed. Travel Buddy has content for more than 1,200 destinations and comes in 11 different languages.
— Ad-Funded Mobile Content Platform Provider DIDMO Expanding: Swedish mobile advertising company DIDMO, is expanding its ad-based mobile content platform to the US, UK, Germany and Spain. The two-year old company says its ad-funded game service is especially popular. Its platform delivers full-version games to mobile phone, wrapped in a 24-hour ad-supported “shell.” Users must sit through four seconds of full-screen advertising to get into a game, which DIDMO claims has resulted in click-through rates 500 percent higher than traditional WAP advertising (release).
