France Telecom To Grow Content, Acquire Companies As Profit Falls

By James Quintana Pearce - Wed 07 Mar 2007 12:25 PM PST

France Telecom is on the acquisition trail and looking to grow its content services in response to a 28 percent fall in net profit, according to TMCnet. The article talks about the company as a whole rather than the mobile services in particular… As a group FT gained 400 million in revenues, which includes IPTV. “The biggest increase in marketing expenditure was lavished on mobile customers in developed countries. Orange spent an additional 392 million on marketing and customer retention for mobile services in 2006, compared to 2005, of which 84% was spent in developed markets, compared to 16% in emerging countries, said Lombard.”
