Industry Moves: BBC Audio & Music, EMI Music

By Robert Andrews - Sun 29 Jun 2008 02:29 PM PST

-- BBC: BBC marketing director Tim Davie is being tapped to replace Heritage-Lottery Fund-bound Jenny Abramski as director of Audio & Music, in a move that reflects the BBC’s desire to better promote its DAB digital radio offerings. Davie was previously marketing VP for PepsiCo Europe. The BBC has agreed to help market the digital radio network, the economics of which are under question at least as far as the commercial sector is concerned. Via Times.

-- EMI Music: EMI’s private equity owner Terra Firma is reportedly talking with the head of Air Wick maker Reckitt Benckiser’s head to take the helm at EMI Music its recorded music unit. The choice of Elio Leoni Sceti would seem a strange one, but Terra boss Guy Hands has previously made a name turning around motorway service station chains and waste water companies - and FT.com says he is talking to a total six candidates for the position. The recorded music division is key because Hands sees back-catalogue music as more profitable than new releases.
