Industry Moves: Post Reporter Geary Steps Up To Development Role

By Robert Andrews - Wed 02 Jul 2008 09:11 AM PST

Young Birmingham Post reporter Joanna Geary’s enthusiasm for threading Twitter and blogs in to the fabric of the newsroom has earned her a promotion to a new position of development editor, charged with overseeing innovation and the development of new platforms for the West Midlands broadsheet - one of Trinity Mirror’s (LSE: TNI) key titles but one which, in competition with the Mail, still enjoys a lowly circulation, given the size of England’s second city. Geary has used Twitter a lot in her reporting work and has overseen the paper’s new blog initiative since the site’s February revamp. For an indication as to her new role, which seems tailor-made for her, see her presentation outlining an upcoming online journalism training course.
