Industry Moves: Virgin Media Makes Berkett Permanent CEO; CFO Kerrest Leaving In April

By Joseph Weisenthal - Thu 06 Mar 2008 02:38 PM PST

Broadband operator Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED) said in a filing that interim CEO Neil Berkett is now the official CEO. Berkett was named to the post in August, following the surprise resignation of Steve Burch, who stepped down for family reasons. Berkett has been with the company since September 2005, originally starting as COO. Prior to Virgin, he was at Lloyds TSB.

And as one position gets filled, another one goes empty… in the same announcement the company announced the resignation of CFO Jacques Kerrest, who will leave in April. The one-line statement offers no cause for the sudden departure, nor does it name an acting replacement.

Robert adds: It’s a vote of confidence in the strategic shift Berkett ushered in (a concentration on broadband as the key differentiator) since he replaced Steve Burch in August.
