Is Lycos Europe Any Closer To Finding A Buyer?

By Robert Andrews - Fri 01 Aug 2008 08:21 AM PST

It was back in April that Lycos Europe, after failing to reinvent the once-mighty portal for today’s web, put itself up for sale. Still no word on who might buy the network or for how much. Though Lycos issued a come-and-get-me to AOL (NYSE: TWX) and Tomorrow Focus, no actual suitors been named in anything resembling a leak or speculation. The company in May said it was entering takeover talks with interested parties in the US, Asia and Europe. But today Lycos Europe today told me: “For the moment, there are no updates to be made.” Does anyone know what’s going on?
