- @ Midem: Orange Plans DRM-Free Music Rentals, Still Talking To Nokia: Orange has promised to drop DRM in 2008, “so we can have a truly interoperable service linked with network access”. - O2 UK Cuts Tariffs, including iPhone: It’s not about the iPhone, really. But while O2 announced yesterday cuts across all of their consumer tariffs, news that iPhone tariffs were being slashed were seized upon as an indication that the operator was trying to stimulate lagging sales.
- Ofcom Takes Aim At Pricey Mobile Data Roaming Charges: Just months after operators were forced to cut their roaming charges for phone calls, Ofcom has criticised the high cost of surfing the mobile web while abroad. The UK regulator warned that while it wanted to see the industry “take the initiative on this issue,” it was prepared to resort to legislation requiring them to do so.
