-- Microsoft Buying Portugal’s MobiComp For Mobile Data Backup And Storage: Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) continues its push into the mobile space… the software giant will acquire Mobicomp, a Portugal-based mobile software company specializing in storage and restoration of mobile data. MobiComp’s three main products are MobileKeeper Backup & Restore, MobileKeeper Sharing & Communities, and Active mTicker.
-- HarbourVest Takes Stake In Mobile Messaging Firm TynTec: British-German mobile messaging operator TynTec has raised a “significant minority investment” from global VC HarbourVest Partners, it announced today. The six-year old company--which counts a number of operators and brands such as BA, O2 and Lufthansa as customers--will use the money to expand into Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
-- Mobile IM Firm Miyowa Raises $8 Million To Expand To The U.S. And Asia: Paris-based mobile IM firm Miyowa said today it has raised $8 million in a second round of venture capital from Techfund and Credit Agricole Private Equity. To date, the company has raised a total of $12.7 million.The financing will go towards developing advanced mobile IM service and expansion into the U.S. and Asia markets.
-- Mobile Game Developer Xendex Raises $3.6 million In Venture Capital: Xendex, a mobile game developer in Europe, said today that it raised EUR 2.3 million ($3.6 million) in venture capital from Pontis Venture Partners and other angel investors. Xendex develops games based on its own intellectual property as well as working with brands, such as Vodafone (NYSE: VOD), Coca-Cola, Disney (NYSE: DIS) and THQ (NSDQ: THQI).
