Mobile music distributor VidZone Digital Media has signed a licensing deal with SonyBMG that allows it to retail the label’s UK digital catalog for mobile and PC users. The deal covers streaming and downloading in audio and video, and will also make songs available as mobile realtones and video ringtones. VidZone, which has deals with several UK carriers, offers a web-based music and video download site as well as mobile options, with customer accounts linked across media. VidZone is particularly strong with independent labels; the SonyBMG deal gives it access to artists like Justin Timberlake and Beyonce (Via MediaWeek.)
