Three Rules Out Home Broadband, Owes £6 Billion To Hutchison: Report

By Robert Andrews - Mon 26 Nov 2007 02:43 AM PST

Telegraph.co.uk has checked over mobile network 3 in Companies House and it isn’t pretty: “(UK) losses during 2005 were £1.4 billion. These went down to £667 million last year. Hutchison is owed £6 billion by its UK subsidiary, which coughed up £320 million in interest payments during 2005. Last year, those payments were largely waived, and the total fell to £95 million.” Interviewed, UK CEO Kevin Russell counters a mast-sharing agreement with T-Mobile could cut network running costs by 20 percent, but he rules out a home broadband strategy like competitors have: “If you try and do everything the real danger is you come up short on a lot.”
