Apple: European iTunes Stores Sell More Than 200 Million Songs

Two years into its European iTunes expansion, Apple says the 17 stores have sold more than 200 million songs. The most impressive number may be the way sales zoomed from 50 million to 200 million in the past year, a testament to Apple’s skills but also to an overall growing comfort with digital sales. Eddy Cue, VP-iTunes, also attributes it to exclusive music content.
Apple’s iTunes success in Europe also explains why the company has in many respects become a lightening rod for government efforts to ensure interoperability. Release.
