That was quick: The BT executive overseeing the UK telecoms company’s move into IPTV and VOD later this year has quit “to pursue other interests.” Andrew Burke, who was named CEO of BT Entertainment when the content division was established in 2004, will leave at the end of April and will not be replaced.
His departure comes at a critical juncture, with the telco aiming for a fall launch of its IPTV service dubbed BT Vision.
Burke’s responsibilities will be split among the management team BT has been busily assembling…
Mad.co.uk: Burke’s departure is described as “amicable†by the company but there is speculation of a rift in senior management over plans for the entertainment business.
InformITV: Primary responsibility for BT Vision will rest with Dan Marks, CEO of TV services at what is now known as BT TV. He was previously with Universal Studios Networks in the UK, and before that was head of programming at Video Networks in London.
