Eircom Opens 100,000 Euro Fund For Irish Web App Developers

By Robert Andrews - Sat 24 Nov 2007 06:48 AM PST

Irish telco Eircom is opening a 100,000 euro fund to back up to four Web 2.0 developers a year. It’s looking for ideas to be submitted in discovery, messaging, voice, location, publishing, community, content, advertising and identity categories. Successful applicants will get monthly funding after a six-month tranche of cash is given out. Ireland’s Electric News said Eircom had traditionally been slow in the innovation space but the idea here is to to incubae creative web app development and those apps could end up on the company’s website. 100,000 euros between four people in a year sounds like a 25,000 salary.
