Endemol Prepares Mobile Video Show With Channel 4 Tie-In

By James Quintana Pearce - Fri 24 Jun 2005 05:06 AM PST

Endemol TVEndemol and Channel 4 in the UK have teamed up to develop a “mainstream mobile TV show” due to launch in September. “The show will be similar in concept to the ‘mobisodes’ created by Fox for its drama 24. But Endemol director of interactive media Peter Cowley said its mobile drama would be much more integrated with the broadcast show.”
From the tone of the article it appears that the mobile show and the TV show will have the same characters and actors, and the different storylines will complement and interact with each other. Endemol believes it is this sort of hybrid model which will come to dominate the industry.
“We don’t know yet whether it will be pay-per-download or sponsored,” said Cowley. “But we definitely see a lot of scope for branded mobile video.”
