By Rafat Ali - Mon 05 Jul 2004 11:08 AM PST

As part of the BBC Online’s review, the govt. also commissioned a study on the future trends in online content market in UK, and how these would affect BBC’s working etc...(full report in PDF here )

The study, by Spectrum Strategy, is worth reading in full, to get an idea of the general trends, including affect of broadband and mobile on UK’s market.

Some numbers: Paid-for content revenues from the fixed Internet will grow rapidly, from around £80m to £400m by 2007; advertising revenues will grow from around £200m to £300m by 2007....In mobile, the substantially larger customer base and existing payment methods mean that revenues are already nearly £500m and are forecast to increase to around £2bn by 2007.
